  • BULL SHARK ENCOUNTER

We will be diving with the bull sharks at 80 ft. This is a static dive where you will have to stay in your assigned place. So if you're up for this high-octane adventure, check it out and join us on this trip of a lifetime!

Bull sharks are very large sharks, they are not shy and do make passes close by the divers. This is a normal behaviour for them, but if you're not ready for it, it will be an adrenaline rush.

We do use fish to bring the sharks in close, which sometimes causes the sharks to get excited. Their position in the food chain is vital for the health of the ecosystem. The more we learn about these animals the more we can enjoy and care for them.

PRE-REQUISITES:

- Advanced divers with more than 30 logged dives (if you don't comply with this, you can do a check-out dive previous to the shark dive so the instructor can evaluate your diving skills).

- Good air consumption.

- Good equalization techniques.

- Listen carefully and follow the dive plan.

- Proper equipment (full wetsuit, no bright colors).

It is important that you conduct yourself as a good diver and follow the plan for your and the rest of the group's safety.

  • INFORMATION ABOUT BULL SHARKS

Bull sharks are one of the most feared ocean predators, even though humans are not part of their diet. Unfortunately, their bad reputation is due to the fact that most of the information found on them comes from tabloids. However, diving around these animals is an experience that more and more people want to share!

Actually the bull shark (Carcharhinus Leucas) is an opportunistic species that can grow up to 4 meters in length. This means that it feeds on many types of aquatic animals, especially fish, turtles, marine mammals and even other sharks.

Playa del Carmen is among the best places in the world to dive with bull sharks, and the warm water and good visibility allow us to appreciate with great satisfaction the beauty and elegance of these awesome predators in Playa del Carmen between November and March.

Our dive center, Phantom Divers, was the first one to offer the famous encounters with bull sharks in Playa del Carmen. What moves us is the passion to understand, discover and make known the mysteries that these amazing animals hide. Join us to enjoy this unique experience!

  • PHANTOM DIVERS AND BULL SHARK CONSERVATION

In Mexico sharks are under the increasing pressure of the fishing industry. This is a very alarming reality for all the lovers of sharks and the marine ecosystem. However, in order to advance with the conservation plans, it is necessary to know their movement patterns.

The Non-governmental Organization Saving Our Sharks is conducting extensive research on sharks' movement patterns, through the use of acoustic and satellite telemetry, in order to locate the appropriate habitat for each species. These investigations are necessary to establish the correct times and areas for the protection of sharks.

The Phantom Divers team, aware of this reality, is working directly with the NGO Saving Our Sharks to achieve the main goal: the CREATION OF A SHARK SANCTUARY IN THE MEXICAN CARIBBEAN COAST, which implies full protection of sharks in this area. When diving with Phantom Divers, you will also be supporting conservation.

Bull shark diving is an adventure you will never forget!
